🎥 Adam Curtis – HyperNormalisation

Yesterday I discovered a documentary that is worth watching if you have a couple of hours available. In its full length of about 2h 40m, Adam Curties explains how in the mid 70s politicans and capitalists – willingly and unwillingly – started to create a different version of today's society and how we ended up with a Trump presideny and Brexit due to a chain of failed decisions.

In the film, Curtis argues that since the 1970s, governments, financiers, and technological utopians have given up on the complex "real world" and built a simple "fake world" that is run by corporations and kept stable by politicians.

It also explains comprehensibly how tech companies use data to create filter bubbles that keep users engaged with content only reflecting their own believes rather than challenging their opinions on the real world and society.

The full movie was first released by BBC in October 2016.
